How can I support the charity?
We would be hugely grateful of you were to consider a donation to Wetwheels. Your continuing support allows us to provide boating opportunities to people with disabilities from the local community. We receive support from a range of individuals, Trusts, companies and community groups, but we always seek new funds to ensure the future of our work - thank you.
How much does a trip onboard Wetwheels cost?
Each trip including time on board, plus time for arrivals, embarking and disembarking is at a cost of £600 (including fuel, support infrastructure and training). Where appropriate, we ask participants to contribute towards the costs of their trip. We may be able to access funds to cover some programme funding but we are adamant that lack of finance should not exclude anyone from enjoying our boating opportunities.
What safety equipment and information is provided?
Access to Wetwheels is via a side-opening door and ramp onto her large open deck. She is MCA coded (category 2) to take up to 10 passengers up to 60 miles offshore. We have designed 3 wheelchair tie-down positions on the deck for maximum safety. We are equipped with the latest safety equipment including a 12 person liferaft, lifejackets and flares. Our skippers are all commercially endorsed and we are fully insured. We also have a detailed safety policy and a full set of risk-assessments available on request.
